3D Technical Artist

We are hiring a 3D Technical Artist with experience in Hard Surface Modeling for our client near Pittsburgh, PA. Due to the nature of the work and location candidates:

Must be a US Citizen
Must have an active U.S. DOE “L” or U.S. DOD “Secret” level Security Clearance
Must be located in or be willing to immediately relocate to Pittsburgh/West Mifflin Borough, PA
Minimum Associates Degree in a related discipline

Duties:

  • Support development of an immersive, interactive, 3D Virtual Trainer by working with artists, game programmers, and subject matter experts to generate digital graphics and animations for use in CryENGINE
  • Perform digital photography and editing, digital video filming, editing and compression, prepare 3D models, 2D/3D graphics, and 2D/3D animations. This includes 3D Avatar creation and animation.
  • Assist with the 3D model reference data collection, which may include long-distance travel to U.S. locations or facilities
  • Provide recommendations on best practices and methods to implement the Virtual Trainer features in CryENGINE
  • Assist with integrating 3D models and assets into the CryENGINE and Virtual Trainer system
  • Create the 3D models as directed by the client and ensure graphics utilized fully satisfy fidelity and requirements specified
  • Mentor government personnel and team members on 3D modeling best practices to continually improve the Virtual Trainer and established asset development pipeline
  • Support Quality Assurance during product testing and respond to and resolve asset-related issues or defects identified
  • Attend regular meetings with development team and government personnel to review the status of work in progress, discuss new tasks, and to establish targets for completion of specific items
  • Perform other duties as related to development and support of the Virtual Trainer

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Software: Proficient in Autodesk 3dsmax
  • Software: Proficient in Adobe Photoshop
  • Software: Experienced in Adobe After Effects and/or Adobe Premiere
  • 3D Skills: Experienced in Hard Surface Real-time Modeling, UV Unwrapping, Animation
  • 2D Skills: Experienced in Photorealistic Texturing, Real-time Material Texture Maps, Photo Manipulation
  • Photography Skills: Experienced in digital photography and editing for capturing and manipulating reference data
  • PC Skills: Experienced in Windows 7 operating system

Desired Skills/Experience:

  • Software: Experience with CryENGINE
  • Software: Experience with Pixologic ZBrush
  • Software: Experience with Unity3D
  • 3D Skills: Character Modeling, Character Skinning/Weighting, Multi-Sub Texturing, Specular/Normal Maps
  • Game Engine Skills: Realistic Level Design, Real-time Lighting, Character Editing & Animation, Layer/File Structure, Procedural Textures/Materials, Shader Functionality
  • Reality Capture: Processing and Manipulating reference data including 3D Scan Data, Point Clouds, Photography, and Video
  • Software: Adobe Flash/Animate
  • Technical Art Skills: Experience including Scripting, Tool Development, Shader Development, and Procedural Materials
  • Personal, Professional, or Military Experience with Naval/Maritime environments
  • Strong portfolio showcasing best, recent, or most relevant work [1]
