QA Manager - Software

 

 

 

 

 

QA Manager is responsible for providing leadership, guidance, motivation and mentoring for the entire subordinate QA team. This individual is also responsible for reporting on team’s status to all interested parties. Secondary focus of this individual is to (when possible resource wise) provide testing / development assistance to the team.

Key Areas of Responsibility

●Providing clear way forward for the team in accordance with direction provided by QA Director and other stakeholders / POs while actively investigating and trying to resolve potential road-blocks

●Providing reports and updates on team status, workload, morale and health of the team to QA Director and interested parties.

●Making sure that the team is able to deliver quality product in line with requirements on time

●Monitoring health and efficiency of the team and making sure that this status is known to QA Director

●Mentoring QA subordinates

●Makes sure team captures test activity information during execution.

●Communicates regularly with project members and advocates for resolution of high priority problems

●Providing / Arranging customer support during product acceptance events and when needed by PMO and Customer Support

●Provide team with often feedback on their work

●Reviews staffing allocations for their team

●Reviews Tech and Tools plan for their team.

●When required fulfilling some of the duties of his / her subordinates

○Acting as a QA point of contact for selected projects or a larger scale

■Audits work for direct reports for accuracy and completion

■Uses metrics to report on the quality of the product/project at key dates

■Looks at the delivery and product as a big picture

○Participate in review sessions of project requirements when needed

○Test execution for each test cycle

■Creation / co-creation of clear and proper test plans required by all stages of development

■Able to execute test scripts and log progress in utilized systems.

■Able to create defect and execution reports.

■Selective testing of more advanced tasks

■Monitors projects using metrics

■Guides Test team using Sprint Plans, Metrics and direction from Scrum Team

●Multi department/people organization when needed

●Identify areas with the highest automation need based on manual testing time.

●Maintaining internal documentation in Confluence.

 

Management

●Responsible for managing direct reports

●Taking part in interviewing and hiring process

●Ensuring that proper candidates are selected for desired positions within the team

Process

●Test execution for each test cycle

○Creation / co-creation of clear and proper test plans required by all stages of development

○Able to execute test scripts and log progress in JIRA.

○Able to create JIRA defect and execution reports.

●Captures test activity information during execution.

●Actively look for ways to improve QA efficiencies and productivity.

Quality

●Actively look for ways to improve QA efficiencies and productivity.

●Making sure that the whole testing process is well documented

●Making sure that the team is able to deliver on agreed work in time and fulfilling the desired quality standard

●Making sure that the team can operate in a supportive environment which allows them to use their full potential

●To remove any impediments that obstruct a team’s pursuit of its goals

●Making sure that clear and correct test plans are available during the whole development process

●Ensure open communication channels between development, management and other testing teams

●Overseeing the quality of the product and work of the team and reporting all issues to proper channels

●Supporting the acceptance test events and ensuring the successful result

●Sharing the knowledge with other team members (training / mentoring)

●Making sure the internal QA related documentation is up to date

●Making sure that customer that team works in accordance with requirements

●Providing team with all necessary information needed for its operation

Requirements

●High school degree minimum

●Bachelor’s degree (or above) in Computer Science or Management is a plus

●High English language verbal and written skills

●3 - 5  years’ experience in Quality Assurance or similar field is a minimum

●Experiences with team management or team direction

●Experience leading a team of 3+ direct reports

●Analytical thinking

●Ability to work in a team

●Experience with computer games development or real-time simulations development is an advantage
