Sales Director

This is a great opportunity to join an established Software company that is backed by private equity. Established over 10 years ago, the company has built an international reputation and dominates a niche market. The Sales Director is responsible for the executive management of the Sales department, including Domestic, International, Inside Sales and Client Relationship Management teams.

The Role

Sales leadership includes applying a thorough understanding of products and markets to drive

sales methodology, processes, and pipeline management, defining strategy that aligns with the overall

goals, creating and following a Sales budget, setting department goals, mentoring department managers, and advising the executive team on issues related, either directly or indirectly, to Sales.


· Provide the effective and inspiring Sales leadership and vision necessary to generate year-over-year growth in revenue, EBITA and cash, and achieve the company mission

· Participate in the development and preparation of short-term and long-range company strategic plans and operating budgets

· Drive the development and overall execution of enterprise sales strategies to achieve revenue goals

· Oversee the hiring and development of a global sales organization

· Develop pricing policies, including volume discounts and terms and conditions, for customers and channel partners

· Provide business critical sales and revenue forecasts and insights, back up with accurate data and analytics

· Ideate new and innovative products and services to power new growth opportunities

· Optimize Salesforce and ensure quality of Salesforce data to generate accurate sales forecasts

· Manage sales training, compensation, and incentive programs

· Manage overall sales process to ensure it is high quality, and set appropriate metrics for sales funnel management

· Develop, establish, and direct channel and distribution strategies and programs

· Develop and maintain high-profile external relationships with key customers, professional organizations, and develop and implement strategies for expanding the company’s customer base

· Effectively articulate the value story of the company products and services

· Promote a customer-oriented focus by advocating the needs and requirements of customers and partners back to other internal groups

· Prepare and submit an annual Sales budget, manage effectively within this budget, and report accurately on progress made and challenges encountered

· Impact the customer experience through high-quality Sales handoffs to the Client Services team

· Work with President to prepare updates for board meetings and participate in them


· Excellent written and oral communication skills

· Ability to lead, motivate and interact with a wide variety of personality types to create a results-driven, team oriented environment

· Proven evangelical sales track record in a new product/new market environment

· Proven track record of establishing and achieving goals and targets related to Salesforce, pipeline growth and accuracy, sales targets, revenue growth, budget tracking and control, quality control, operational efficiency, employee satisfaction, training and skills development

· Highly organized and disciplined

· Excellent strategic planning skills

· Ability to balance competing priorities and complex issues

· Demonstrated creative problem solving ability

· Ability to manage the performance metrics and sales best practices for team members; successfully leading the team to consistently meet or exceed sales quotas

· Ability to lead a team responsible for new account acquisition and provide guidance for competing, negotiating and closing sales

· Ability to lead sales strategies to further penetrate and grow existing customer bases

· Experience in leading International sales

Education and Training

· Business related BS degree/MBA


· Executive leadership experience at company that went through multiple growth phases

· Experience in medical simulation, healthcare technology, or educational technology fields preferred

· Strong Sales Operations experience

· Strong experience executing go-to-market strategy for new products and services

· Experience selling enterprise products with both perpetual and subscription licensing

· 3+ years of sales team management and strategic planning experience

· 5+ years of software sales experience

· Proven track record of consistently meeting and exceeding sales revenue targets

· Experience building and growing a sales force to target multiple markets

· Experience selling to higher education or healthcare

· Knowledge of medical simulation industry landscape including all companies, products, pricing and differentiators of each company a plus

· Experience working in healthcare education or clinical care environments a plus

· Experience using Salesforce, including building reports and processes a plus
